SHARYN DONALDSON

Sharyn is the owner and brains behind The Sauce Kitchen. As a passionate cook and lover of all things kitchenalia, she jumped at the opportunity to begin a business in Toowoomba which incorporated the best of the retail experiences more commonly seen in Sydney or Melbourne, or even overseas.

KATE VANDERPLAS

Kate Vanderplas is our resident Barista and has had over 20 years’ experience off and on in the coffee and restaurant industry. She is a primary school teacher that always fell back on coffee making when living in different locations around Australia. "I just felt so at home serving coffee to customers early in the morning and knowing that I had just started their day with a chat and smile, it is something quite personal and I love it!"

KATHY COULTER

Kathy has been part of Sauce since it opened and she is an integral part of our shop floor staff. Her knowledge about kitchen gadgetry is encyclopedic, and as a mother of five, she is very practical in her kitchen equipment choices. She also makes a fine coffee and will look after you so well when you visit the cafe space.

Maggie Robertson

Maggie has been a part of the Sauce team since 2013. Whilst originally working through her university studies, Maggie has become one of the resident barista’s, kitchen hand, waitress, cook and now utilising her university degree in assisting Sharyn with the marketing of Sauce. ‘It wasn’t until I started work at Sauce I realised I have a passion for the food industry and how food can change people’s lives. The team at Sauce are one big family and I love being a part of so many different aspects of the business.

SUE WALKER

Sue joined the Sauce team in 2014 after a career teaching Home Economics and Hospitality in various high schools and TAFE. She has also run her own cookery school and along with her husband, were managers for a boutique hotel in southern Spain for 6 months. Her passion is preparing and serving quality home cooked food and beverages. You’ll mostly find Sue in the café but she also has a comprehensive knowledge of cookery equipment and utensils.

KAREN

Hi, my name is Karen. You’ll find me here at Sauce most Fridays and Saturdays. I’m very fortunate to be part of this wonderful team here at Sauce – one where we all share our passion for food and friends with each other and ultimately our customers. I first discovered Sauce through attending a Cooking School with some of my colleagues. From the moment I entered the historic building, I was captivated by its warmth, character and overall charm … and it was filled with the most beautiful homewares, gifts and kitchen gadgets imaginable! Then there was the allure of the freshly ground coffee beans and the cabinet filled with all types of ‘home baked’ goodies, for which I promised myself that I would be back for … a couple more cooking schools (shared with my Mum and my daughter) and here I am, a part of the Sauce Team

    It was the best entertainment I have had for a long time and I learned heaps too. Tony's directions were given in an easy going way and his stories were enjoyable. We had a choice about participating or not. The food cooked was great. Especially the desert. Guess who has a sweet tooth? We thought that we would do another class with Tony towards the end of the year but there is none planned. It turned out to be a great girls night out.

    Marbeling - this was fantastic. Mary also told us of different methods of using fondant and making colours and useful tips such as the layers sticking together and which tools were much more useful. Very happy with the class and look forward to the next one, A very enjoyable experience and learnt so much of what is available

    The latest Sauce cooking class was a great success. Chef Tony's engaging manner and his amazing knowledge made the Asian class a joy to do. The trip around the Chinese grocery store was a revelation and well worth the extra time. Then the combination of great recipes with great outcomes and the opportunity to eat what we produced made for a thoroughly enjoyable learning experience. Peter and Geraldine
